We are grateful that they are working as ambassadors for mothers in some of the poorest parts of the world.

Rt. Hon. Clare Short

Rt. Hon. Clare Short is a former member of parliament and a former Secretary of State for International Development. Born in Birmingham, Clare spent 27 years as MP for Birmingham Ladywood. As Secretary of State for International Development, Clare worked to combat poverty in Africa and oversaw the transformation of the Overseas Development Administration (ODA) to the Department for International Development (DfID).
Professor Alice Roberts
Professor Alice Roberts
is an anatomist and biological anthropologist, author and broadcaster. She is passionate about public engagement with university research and teaching, and advocates a wider role for universities in society. She has been Professor of Public Engagement in Science at the University of Birmingham since 2012. Alice has presented a wide range of BBC science and archaeology series, including The Incredible Human Journey, Origins of Us, Prehistoric Autopsy and Digging for Britain. She has written eight popular science books, including The Incredible Unlikeliness of Being and Tamed: Ten species that changed our world.
Rt. Hon. Andrew Mitchell
Rt. Hon. Andrew Mitchell
is another former Secretary of State for International Development. In his early career Andrew spent time as a UN Peacekeeper in Cyprus. He is currently the MP for Royal Sutton Coldfield.
