Will you help us fund vital equipment to protect expectant and new mothers from coronavirus and its impact?

“Many hospitals in Malawi lack reliable access to handwashing facilities”

They are not able to, provide hand sanitiser and can’t afford protective equipment for healthcare workers.  This means infections can be transmitted between patients, and healthcare workers may themselves contract the virus. Medical staff who will be putting themselves in harm’s way deserve adequate equipment. Whole communities are at risk due to the contact made in hospital settings.

Hospitals in Malawi do not have the resources to manage large numbers of people falling ill with coronavirus and those who become very ill from the virus will be at a high risk of losing their lives. Every mother’s death is a tragedy for the family and community she leaves behind. Her children are particularly vulnerable. Some will not survive if their mothers die.

“Many hospitals lack basic but essentail supplies to deal with Covid-19 “

“Help protect these communities”

To help prevent the spread of infection and protect these communities we are funding the purchase of handwashing stations, soap, paper towels, hand sanitiser and protective equipment for healthcare workers including gowns and face masks. These supplies will be distributed to maternity wards in hospitals across Malawi.

Please will you consider helping us step up our efforts to protect women and their communities in Malawi through this incredibly difficult period, by giving a gift today.

The aim of this appeal is to raise funds for maternity wards in hospitals in Malawi to be used for the purchase of  infection prevention equipment specifically aimed towards preventing the spread of coronavirus. Once this aim has been achieved, or not enough money is raised to carry out this aim, any surplus funds will be used in Malawi for the charity’s general aims.
