I am a medical officer and a Research Fellow with Africa Centre of Excellence for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP), Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Nigeria. I graduated from the prestigious Bayero University in 2017, and I happened to be the best graduating medical student (MBBS) in the faculty of clinical sciences, winning awards and certificates of excellence as the best student in the departments of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pediatrics, Surgery, Community Medicine and Public Health; with a distinction in Pharmacology, Anatomy and Biochemistry.

As a young graduate from medical school, I liked to have an insight in the area of research, become an experienced professional in the field of public health and research, particularly in the area of maternal and child health to improve the health of our mothers, sisters and daughters; and save them from all kind of complications while trying to bring life into the world.

Ammalife Change Maker award enabled me to pursue MSc by Research with University of Birmingham, UK which has so far helped me in achieving my long-term personal objectives of becoming a research-oriented professional in the field of public health – maternal and child health. It has also helped me in building an international network and engaging in knowledge-based groups among experienced researchers and recognized scholars which is my central aim while pursuing my study. I will utilize the opportunity giving to me to make sure such academic network helped in developing my skills, to raise the younger ones and also ensure sustainable knowledge acquisition among the developing countries.

I am the Nigeria project coordinator of E-MOTIVE study, which is a multi-country study coordinated by University of Birmingham, UK which addresses the early detection and management of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) to save women from the complications of PPH and improve overall maternal health indices globally. We have studied over forty hospitals and over 83,000 women across Nigeria.
