Ammalife researcher, Dr Amie Wilson, assisted the team from UCL in analysing data from women’s groups in Malawi, Bangladesh, India and Nepal. The results show that the benefits of participatory learning groups are outstanding. As many as half of all the 800 mothers who die each day could survive childbirth. Now that work has been has been incorporated into WHO recommendations and will have a direct impact on mothers’ life chances. Read the WHO recommendations here.
