Trekking to stop women dying in childbirth

Providing life-saving transport for labouring or critically ill pregnant women in areas around Havelian. A Life-saving, 'out-of-hours' journey costs £3-£5, money you and I often don't think about spending on trivial possessions. Your Donation WILL stop women dying in Childbirth.

At Ammalife, we believe that we should encourage and facilitate anyone with a commitment to improve maternal health in the developing world to fulfil their interests. To this end, Ammalife would always be setting up numerous "off-the shelf packages" which are ways in which anyone can help in the projects or programmes of Ammalife or a related charity.
Some examples of how you may help are:
- A medical student on a two month elective may work through Ammalife to:
- Assist with project implementation
- Help with project monitoring and evaluation.
- Facilitate in training courses.
- Run a survey or qualitative study on behalf on Ammalife.
- An SpR or a midwife or an SHO with two weeks to spare may work through Ammalife to:
- Help produce Evidence Appraisal Reports.
- Run training courses.
- Assist with project evaluation.
- Help with Report developments.
- A Senior clinician-manager with 12 months or more at his/her disposal may work through Ammalife to:
- Set up and implement a project/programme.
- Set up a health facility
- Lead a sustained educational programme
- A volunteer who can spare 1 day a week may work through Ammalife to:
- Organise fundraising events and sponsorships.
- Can act as the link between twinned health facilities (one in the UK and one in a developing country, for example)
- Help with Report preparations
- An academic with an interest in research may work through Ammalife to:
- Advance the research agenda for Ammalife
- Help with Evidence Appraisal

Our guarantee to you: Ammalife project activities are carried out by volunteers, who receive no payments. Ammalife makes payments only to external service providers, such as the minibus-taxi drivers, for direct services rendered in fulfilling Ammalife objectives. All Ammalife volunteers declare that they have no conflict of interest, specifically there are no financial links with any of the external service providers.

We believe no effort is too small. We appreciate that many health care practitioners or other volunteers can only give limited time for charitable endeavours. We believe it should be the role of Ammalife to be flexible and offer a framework that allows such people with differing levels of time, resources, knowledge and skills to contribute usefully in reducing maternal deaths and disability. We do not believe the work of Ammalife should be restricted to an exclusive group of “charity professionals”, but opened out to anyone who wishes to make a difference.
