Preth de Silva is a medical student at Imperial College London. Not content with the challenge of learning medicine, he’s now bravely volunteered to climb to Everest Base Camp to raise money for Ammalife! Preth has always enjoyed climbing and he’s currently training hard to be ready to fly into the town of Luklu in Nepal at the end of May. Luklu sits at roughly 2800m above sea level, or 2700m above London, so even acclimatising to the starting altitude will be a real feat. From Luklu, Preth plans to ascend a further 2500m over 8 days to reach Everest Base Camp at 5364m. He’ll then return to Luklu and onwards to Katmandu for some well-earned beers!

Preth is looking for sponsors and – with a dedicated MyDonate facility – it’s easier than ever to show your support, so please give generously! You can also stay in touch via facebook. The Ammalife team is immensely grateful to Preth for choosing to donate his sponsorship fund to save mothers’ lives, and we’ll be following his progress with interest and encouragement in the coming months.

Go for it Preth! We’re behind you (albeit several kilometres) all the way!
