We’d like to share with you a very special story about some inspirational fundraising!

On the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of The Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) daughter Lady Fatema (AS), the Higher Education Department (HED) invited Professor Arri Coomarasamy, Ammalife Founder, to address the youth at Khoja Shia Itnashari Muslim Community (KSIMC) Stanmore on women’s health. Here is an extract from the flyer:

Maternal instinct is innate,

but appreciation of nature’s most pure relationship is what we should strive for as a worldwide community regardless of custom, religion or colour. Women are not dying of a disease we cannot treat. They are dying because societies have yet to make the decision that their lives are worth saving. It is an opportunity for us to come together as different organisations, to strive for the cause of those who bring us into this world”.

Rubina Chatoo’s oldest son, Saif Abbas, attended the talk. After completing his Islamic GCSE, enthusiastic about wanting to give back to the community he had gained so much from, he decided to teach and facilitate the GCSE course at the KSIMC Stanmore. His former teacher and now colleague and mentor Mr Mukhtar Kassam encouraged him. Saif Abbas now facilitates the HED and organises talks on things that matter to youth in their community.

Saif Abbas purchased 150 roses which he sold during the event in aid of Ammalife and raised £470!!

Every HED student wrote a special message for their mother. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as each mum read her special message. Mrs Chatoo has kindly shared her special messages from her sons with us below, she writes: “every mother is an inspiration to her children…and when she gets back more than she gave her life feels fulfilled”:

Dear Mum,
I am your love. I am your life. I am your angel, your sugar and spice.
When I grew up and crawled on my knees, you guided me to walk on my feet
Now I can walk, and I can talk. And I can even ride a white horse.
Love from Saif Abbas xx

Dear Mum,
I love you so much. You’ve always been there for me and you don’t know how much I love you for that. You’re the coolest mum and I couldn’t ask for a better one. Umm idk (I don’t know) what else to write because I always tell you how much you mean to me!
Love you loads x
